Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School (KGMS) is an independent K-12 school and registered non-profit located in North Vancouver, that has been transforming the lives of students with learning differences for over 50 years.
Your involvement supports bursaries and sustains specialized education for children with learning differences, like anxiety, autism, dyslexia, and ADHD.
We believe in the potential for success in every student, offering flexible education and supports tailored to their needs.
95% report academic improvement and increased confidence.
Providing over 170 families with special education and support.
Over 17,000 hours of 1:1 tutoring in 2022-2023.
94% received specialized supports including counselling, occupational or behavioural therapy.

KGMS Empowering Families
“We are forever grateful for the care and specialized learning that our son, Isaiah, receives at KGMS. After realizing that the mainstream school program was not going to allow our son to thrive, we transitioned to KGMS in grade 3.
He is now at the end of his grade 4 year, and progressing beyond our expectations. He gets the individualized program that he needs, and this has let him flourish, not only as a learner, but as a more confident and committed person.
Teachers at KGMS have a special gift; they embrace each child as a learner and foster a positive and encouraging learning environment. They meet the student where they are at (wherever that may be) and know how to challenge them, just enough to foster confidence in their learning, and motivation for the students to do more! I’m not sure where they are hiding their magic wands, but we know they are there! We now have a son who believes in his abilities, is confident at trying things, wants to read, and truly feels connected to a community.”
